When the time is right, the time is right. Yet, it seems to me that people have gotten off track, putting off their wedding and the natural flow of life for years, just so they can have an overly expensive and overly flashy wedding. This is nonsense. Your wedding should be one of the most special days of your life, you are making a commitment to be with someone that you love very deeply for the rest of your life.
So when the person is right and the time is right-- don't put it off til you can rent the Hilton for a reception hall or get a 2 karat ring. Go for it! Here are some tips to help you along the way.
1. Buy a used dress or wear a hand me down. The dress will only be worn once in your life. If you can get a special hand me down from a relative that is great. If one isn't available, it isn't difficult to find used-- sometimes never worn-- dresses for half off or more. If things are really bad, consider contacting Every Girls Dream. This organization gives wedding dresses to women who are facing financial hardship.
2. Have a family member take pictures. Between photoshop and high quality printing services at home and at your local drug store, you can turn a few snapshots into fabulous portraits in no time flat.
3. Get married in nature. Natural weddings are all the rage these days and they are pretty cheap if you plan it right. Finding a secluded spot in a national forest or on the beach can even be free with a small enough wedding party. The memories will last a lifetime.
